Starring    :  Mahesh Babu, Kajal Agarwal, Prakash Raj

Finally the wait is over and it's a part time for Kerala Mahesh Babu fans. Their superstar is back with the Malayalam version of Telugu super hit Businessman

An action packed tale, the story is set on the backdrop of Mumbai and here comes Surya (mahesh) to live with his friend (brahmaji). He uses his brains and brawn and eventually shakes the pillars of the central minister Jaidev (prakash raj). What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

The direction of the movie was good. Even though the story line is predictable it entertains people. It's an all in all Mahesh Babu film. From beginning till the end you can witness the power packed performance of Mahehsh Babu. Kajal Agarwal was sensuous and pretty whenever required. In short everyone performed their roles well.

The movie is a complete entertainer and can be watchable. After watching this film, Kerala audience will definitely love Mahesh Babu.

I Love Me

Direction   :  B. Unnikrishnan
Writer       :  Sethu
Starring     :  Unni Mukundan, Asif Ali, Anoop Menon, Isha Talwar

After the grand success of Granmaster with Universal hero Mohanlal, B.Unnikrishnan is back with a young team. For the first time he is directing a movie for another person's script.

Anoop Menon is a Bangkok based bussiness man is looking forward to make a huge amount of money. For that he uses Unni Mukundan and Asif Ali. The game is all set in Bangkok and they reaches Bangkok. Both of them falls in love with Isha Talwar. But at a specific moment they realizes that things were no as easy as they expected.

I Love Me is a thriller movie which lacked pace due to the mistakes in screenplay. Sethu could have taken more care in the screenplay. B.Unnikrishnan's direction was not up to the expected mark. Anoop Menon and Asif Ali did a descent job. Unni Mukundan's performance was not up to the mark, but he was extremely well in the fight sequences. Isha Talwar's presence was charming but there wasn't anything big for her to perform.

I Love Me is a wasted opportunity due to the mistakes in the screenplay. The movie disappoint's the audience.

Bavuttiyude Namathil

Direction    :  GS Vijayan
Script         :  Renjith
Starring      :  Mammootty, Shankar Ramakrishnan, Kavya Madhavan, Rima Kallingal,
                     Kaniha

Megastar Mammootty is back with Renjith after Pranchiyettan and the expectations were at the peak level. Mammootty is the driver of Shankar Ramkarishan. Kavya Madhavan is Shankar's wife and they have 2 children. Mammooty meets Rima Kallingal and they fall in love. Some unexpected things happened mean while and the second half of the movie is filled with serious emotional contents.

Mammootty is back. After a series of continuous flops, the actor is back with a big bang. A class and touching script by the magical writer Renjith. GS Vijayan executed the script well. Mammootty was not acting, but living as Bavutty. An excellent performance by the versatile actor. Shankar Ramakrishan did his character well. Kavya, Rima, and Kaniha also did their part well.

In short Bavuttiyude Namathil is a brilliant movie from Mammootty - Renjith combo. This audience expected sometthing big from Mammootty and he succeded in delivering it perfectly. Bavoottiyude Namathil is a must watch movie.

Da Thadiya

Direction       : Aashiq Abu
Writers         :  Syam Pushkaran, Dileesh Nair, Abhilash S Kumar
Starring        :  Shekhar Menon, Sreenath Bhasi, Nivin Pauly, Ann Augustine

Aashiq Abu is back after the grand success of 22 Female Kottayam. This time he tells the story of a fat man and his life.

The movie focuses on the life of a fat guy. Later  He decides to reduce his weight for a specific purpose. But at that time he came to know about an unpleasant news. From that very own moment his life changes.

Da Thadiya is a sweet, simple and lovable movie. Shekar Menon, the guy playing the lead role (Thadiyan) is definitely the highlight of the movie. He has done a marvelous job. After watching the movie you will definitely start loving him. Sreenath Bhasi who played the role of Thadiyan's brother also did a good job. Nivin Pauly's negative character is another highlight of the movie. He was the best choice for that character. Ann Augustine also did a descent job. The script could have been made a little more  deeper but it's enjoyable. Aashiq Abu.... "He is the man". His direction was superb and catchy. Once again he proved that he is one of the best.

Another highlight of the movie is definitely the climax. What a dialogue by THADIYAN!!!!! Da Thadiya is a fun movie that you will definitely enjoy. Go for it.

Karmayodha

Direction    :  Major Ravi
Writer        :  Major Ravi
Starring      :  Mohanlal, Rajeev Pillai

After Kandahar Major Ravi is back again with Universal Hero Mohanlal. This time the expectations of  the movie were at peak level because Mohanlal has delivered three consecutive hits.

Mohanlal is playing the role of an encounter specilaist who is fearless and he is know as Mad Maddy. He has his own style and he doesn't like to wait for orders from his superior officers. A group of girls were kidnappped from Mumbai and Maddy sets his task to rescue them.

Karmayodha is an all in all Mohanlal movie, especially for Mohanlal fans. His performance and dialogue delivery were mindblowing. Mohanlal was the power house of the movie. The twist before interval was really good. But there were a lot of loop holes in the script and screenplay, especially in the second half. The second half of the movie was very slow and dragging. The climax was good. Major Ravi's direction was not up to the mark.

Karmayodha is targeted mainly on hard core Mohanlal fans. They will surely enjoy the movie. For others it's watchable once if you go with no expectations but still it disappoints a lot due to the huge hype surrounding it.

Dabangg 2 is action packed masala entertainment movie which everyone will surely enjoy. Director Arbazz Khan succeeded in making a perfect Salman movie with all the essential elements.  There is nothing much to talk about the story. A typical story all set for a perfect masala movie in all sense.

Dabangg 2 is an all in all Salman movie from beginning till the end. His screen presence and dialogue delivery were outstanding. He does everything that we expect from Chulbul Pandey. We can't even imagine any one else doing this character. Only Salman can do it. He is definitely the power house of the movie. Sonakhi Sinha did a good job and was very attractive with her charm. Yakshi Faithfully Yours

Direction    :  Suresh Unnithan

The movie tells the story of the relationship between a "Yakshi" and Young man (Thampuran) long ago in a village. But thampuran cheats the Yekshi and marries another girl. Yekshi takes revenge against the Thampuran by killing him. Years later a group of youngsters comes to the village for taking a film. They came to know about the story of Yekshi. The movie develops through the thoughts of these youngsters.

The looks created for Yekshi is good. There is nothing more in the movie. Bad direction and poor script ruined the movie. The performances by the artists were very poor and waste.

Yakshi faithfully yours is a movie which failed to impress the audience due to poor script and bad direction.

Kumki

Direction    :  Prabu Solomon
Script         :  Prabu Solomon
Starring      :  Vikram Prabhu, Lakhmi Menon

Boman [Vikram Prabhu] shares a great rapport with his elephant, Manickam and both lives together. Temporarily, Boman heads to a tribal village Aadhi Kaadu to save one of his well-wishers and due to circumstances pretends his elephant Manickam to be kumki and helps the villagers in chasing wildlife elephants from the village. Meanwhile, Boman happens to see Alli [Lakshmi Menon], daughter of village head and falls for her. As the story proceeds, there occurs a situation where Boman and Manickam have to chase a wild and mischievous elephant called Komban, which either destroys houses or crops of people every year.

Vikram Prabhu has given a convincing performance as Boman, especially his understanding with the elephant is incredible. After Sundarapandian, Kumki is the second film of Lakshmi Menon and the actress has once again proved her mettle through Prabhu Solomon’s Kumki. Prabhu Solomon has come out with excellent direction and screenplay for Kumki. The director has once again recorded a hit with Kumki, after Myna. Kumki has got one of the finest camera works from Sukumar.

Do watch Kumki, a not to be missed visual feast and a perfect paisa-vasool film.

Neethane En Ponvasantham

Direction    : Gowtham Menon
Script        :  Gowtham Menon
Starring     :  Jiva, Samantha, Santhanam

The King of romance is back after Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya. This time GVM joins hands with Jiva and Samantha for Neethane En Ponvasantham, a romantic saga.

The movies tells the love story of Varun (Jiva), and Nithya (Samantha). The film starts off when Varun joins college and he meets Nithya in the college culturals. They share a history of love-hate relationship. First, they meet when they were kids and then when they were in school. Sparks fly when they meet duing college and they are together for the next four years. The film tries to capture some interesting moments in their lives. Unfortunately, only some of the moments are engaging.

Jiva and Samantha did an excellent job. Varun and Nithya were safe in their hands. Santhanam also did a good job. But the script mainly focused on the fights between Varun and Nithya rather than the romantic moments. It was the main drawback of the film as the audience were looking forward for some unforgettable romantic moments. The music and BGM by Ilayaraja was not very impressive expect the BGM in the last minutes and climax of the movie. It was extraordinary and really impressive.

Gowtham Menon's direction was impressive but he could have made the script a little for impressive by focusing on Varun and Nithya's romantic moments rather than their fights. This time GVM failed to keep the expectations but did a descent job.

Matinee

Direction  :  Aneesh Upasana
Script      :  Anil Narayanan
Starring   :  Maqbool Salman, Mythili

Matinee is directed by debutant Aneesh Upasana starring debutant Maqbool Salman and Mythili in lead roles.

The movie tells the story of two people who travels in different direction and have no chance of meeting at all. But  destiny chooses them to meet. Maqbool Salman is playing the role of a young man who's dream is to become a film actor and Mythili plays the role of a young girl who is struggling hard to make a living. They met by chance and travels together to achieve their aim.

The director and script writer equally failed in presenting the movie well. The movie can be considered as a Malayalam version of Dirty Picture with no perfection and sense. Maqbool Salam's performance was OK, but has to improve a lot. Mythili concentrated more in skin show than in acting.

In short watching matinee is such a waste of time. But for those who want to experience Mythili's glamour show, matinee is strictly recommended for them.

Even though they are ready to do any job, their family insists them to get a job that suits their status. The families are not much financially sound to start a business of their own. They spend their time together in the library or the temple premises. Finally when the four of them were desperately in need of a job they decided to leave their place in search of a job.

At the same time another group of four members too set out with another aim. They are Arun, Shyam, Kanu, and Riya. Though both these groups have varied targets, they have something in common. Because of this reason, the two groups were followed by Sethu and gang. Thus the three groups which start from distinct places happen to meet at a particular juncture. There they encounter many problems.

Sreenivasan and Nivin Pauly did a descent job. The movie is written and directed by debutant Snil Ibrahim and he did a good job. Even though there are some mistakes in the movie, it can be neglected. Chapters comes under the so called new generation movie category of Malayalam cinema. Sunil Ibrahim really deserves a big appreciation for his work.

Hide N Seek

Direction   :  Anil
Writer       :  Vikram S Nair
Starring     :  Mukesh, Divyadarshan, Natasha

Solomon (Mukesh) is all in all of a restaurant and he is very font of playing hide n seek from childhood. Once he accidently gets in to the room of  married couple Naveen (Divyadarshan) and Gouri (Natasha) who are software engineers. Naveen is always bussy with his work and has no time to love his wife Gouri. In order to get more care and affection from Naveen, Gouri tells Naveen about his collegemate Niranjan. After hearing about Niranjan, Naveen starts to doubt Gouri. Solomon was hearing all this.

A group of youngsters who are very font of film making used to visit Solomon's restaurant daily. Actually they were desperately searching for a script. Solomon narrates the story of Naveen and Gouri to them. During the discussion of the movie Solomon changes himself in to Naveen in real life.

This is surely the worst movie released in this year so far. You will witness the worst performance of Mukesh in his entire carrier. Divyadarshan's performance was really awkward. He has no skills of acting at all. Natasha also has to improve a lot. The script and direction of the movie was really bad and senseless to it's core.

Khiladi 786

Direction   :  Ashish R Mohan
Writer       :  Himesh Reshammiya
Starring     :  Akshay Kumar, Asin, Paresh Rawal, Mithun Chakraborty

Bahattar  Singh (Akshay Kumar) is a local hooligan who helps the cops in Punjab police catch smuggled goods. His entire family, including Sattar Singh (Raj Babbar), Ekhattar Singh (Mukesh Rishi) have been doing the same work even as they run an akhada (wrestling arena) in their backyard. Due to their bad deeds, no girl in India is ready to get married into their family. (Akshay’s mother is a Canadian, grandmother a South African and aunt a Chinese lady.) In another setting, Tatya Tukaram  Tendulkar (Mithun Chakraborty) is a famous gangster whose sister Indu (Asin) refuses to marry the few decent boys who agree to get married to her. Mansukh (Himesh Reshammiya), who is a match-maker by profession, tries to arrange the marriage of Bahattar and Indu. A whole lot of lies and innumerable confusing twists later, the film manages to come to an end.

Akshay is a treat for all his fans. From action to romance, from breaking bones to dancing, he goes all out for this film. Yet, he fails to put up a convincing show, which I’m quite sure was not his fault. Asin looks stunning. From her newly-toned figure to her trendy styling and stunning make-up, the woman is a sight for sore eyes.

The story by Himmesh Reshammiya is a complex mix of innumerable films and it would be best if you don’t even judge it. Indeed, I’d like to believe he never intended to write a logical story or a telling tale. Direction is another field that the film lacks. While there is enough action in the beginning and in the end, the director seems to have get lost in the middle, where he resorts to mindless comedy and not-so-funny jokes.

If you are one of those who tries to make sense out of every movie, mind you, this is definitely not your kind of a film. The movie can only be fun if you leave your brains at home.

Madirashi

Direction    :  Shaji Kailas
Writer        :  Rajesh Jayaraman
Starring      :  Jayaram, Tini Tom, Meera Nandan, Meghna Raj

After a long time Shaji Kailas is back with a comedy film. As everyone knows the director has been continuously doing action flicks and now he is turning back to comedy films. This time he joins hands with Jayaram to try his luck.

The story plot of the movie is very simple. Jayaram goes to Madirashi to buy a cycle for his son. In Madirashi he meets a boy who's father was kidnapped and Jayaram helps the boy to find his father. A usual masala film with no freshness at all.

There were some comedy situations handled well by Jayaram and Tini Tom. They did their part well. But the movie was not at all challenging for Jayaram. Meera Nandan, and Meghna Raj were also in the movie as heroines having nothing at all to do or perform. The story and screenplay of the movie is very boring and old. The story is predictable and sometimes senseless. When Shaji Kailas was back with comedy track, expectations where high. But he failed in keeping the expectations.

Thousands of films with the same story plot were made in Malayalam and the film makers are still following the same steps. Shaji Kailas was delivering continuous flops and still he made a film with no sense at all. It's time for Shaji Kailas to rethink. At least he must give respect to people who are willing to watch his movies after delivering continuous flops.

The Hitlist

Direction   :  Bala
Writer       :  Bala
Starring     :  Bala, Unni Mukundan, Aishwarya Devan

The Hitlist is the first directional venture of actor Bala. The star cast of the movie includes Bala, Unni Mukundan, and Aiswarya Devan. Bala is also the writer and producer of the movie.

The movie tells the revenge story of a goon against some Police Officers. He makes the hitlist of eight police officers and plans to hunt them one by one. He kills seven Police officers and Bala is the last Police officer in the hitlist, alive.

The entire movie is stupid and waste. Boring first half and second half. Below average screenplay and direction is what the movie offers you. Bala's first directional venture is a complete disaster and the film even lacked a minimum standard.

Nothing more to say. Save your precious time and money.

Face 2 Face

Direction    :  V.M. Vinu
Script        :  Manoj Payyannoor
Starring     :  Mammootty, Roma Ansari, Ragini Dwivedi

Face 2 Face is a crime thriller directed by V.M.Vinu starring Mammootty. Thus movie is really a face 2 face challenge for Mammootty who is desperately waiting for a come back.

Mammootty is a corruption-free cop who always stands by his ethics. His aim is to wipe out criminality and wherever he is posted, he immediately springs to action. As a result most of the times he is under suspension. His uncompromising war with the antisocial elements makes him the prime target of racketeers both inside and outside the force. Finally he decides to ditch his uniform to continue his fight. In the middle of the tumult Mammootty has to forgo all personal comforts including his family. This is when he comes across the silent murders occurring in the midst of modern urban life. He probes into it and this forms the crux of the story.  As the name suggest the movie brings life and death face to face.

In a sense the movie won't disappoint the audience who are eagerly waiting for the comeback of Mammootty. Mammootty's performance was superb and his dialogues were amazing. The script and direction was OK. V.M. Vinu is well known for handling family subjects. This is his first thriller movie and he succeeded in doing his part well up to a certain limit.

The second half lacked speed and was boring when compared to the first half. More care should have been given to the script in the second half. The performance of 4 new faces in the movie was not up to the mark. The songs in the movie were unwanted and irritating.

In short Face 2 Face is an above average fare which can be watched without any expectations and which is better than recent Mammootty movies.

Talaash

Direction  :  Reema Kagti
Script       :  Reema Kagti & Zoya Akthar
Starring    :  Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Rani Mukherjee

Talaash is one of the much hyped and most expected Hindi movie of 2012. The movie is directed by Reema Kagti starring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, and Rani Mukharji.

Aamir Khan is playing Surjan Singh Shekhawat, the investigation officer who is after clues from an accident. The inspector is tormented by his family falling apart on the other hand as things aren't on good terms with his wife Shreya (Rani Mukherjee). During the investigation Shekhawat meets a sex worker Rosie, played by Kareena Kapoor, who reveals a few details crucial to the movie while further deepening the labyrinthine plot.

Without a doubt we can expect the classiest of the action from Aamir Khan notwithstanding the role he has been assigned. This movie shall only strengthen the fact further. Kareena has been doing great with the roles of a sex worker recently and we see no reason why she should fail in this movie. Rani Mukherjee who has made a comeback recently with Aiyaa has been back to form clearly. After her warm-up exercise, this would definitely make it to one of her best movies.

No negatives can be found in the movie except the fact that the movie is a little bit dragging in some places. But it's OK. Talaash is a must watch movie in all means.

Direction    :  V.K. Prakash
Script        :  Jayaprakash Kuloor
Starring     :  Kunchako Boban, Jayasurya, Indrajith, Padmapriya, Meghna Raj,
                    Nithya Menon

After Beautiful, and Trivandrum Lodge, V.K.Prakash is back with Poppins looking for a hat-trick hit. This time he joins hands with script writer Jayaprakash Kuloor and the script is taken from the short stories written by Jayaprakash Kuloor himself.

The first half of the movie is not bad. It had nice visuals and locations. There were some avoidable drags and unwanted scenes  When the movie moved to second half everything was out of control. Second half was rich with dragging, boring and unwanted scenes which irritated the audience. The script was not up to the mark and in many places as a director V.K.Prakash failed to clear the mistakes in the script.

The cinematography by  Jomon, Arun & Pradeesh were outstanding and really appreciable  It is the main highlight of the movie.

All artists performed their roles well. Sankar Ramakrishnan's performance was one of the highlights of the movie and it's surely Sankar's best performance in his entire carrier as an actor. Jayasurya, Indrajith, Kunchako Boban, Nithya Menon, Padmapriya, and Mythili also did their part well.
In short Poppins disappoints the audience and the movie won't give a hat-trick hit for V.K. Prakash.

Chettayees

Direction   :  Shajoon Kariyal
Writer       :  Sachi
Starring     :  Lal, Bijumenon, Suresh Krishna

Chettayees tells the story of five friends who meets together  to celebrate New Year. At night an unexpected thing happens and these five friends get involved in it. The story develops like this

There is nothing new in the movie. A usual friendship movie with some fun and enjoyment. First half of the movie is average with some comedies. Second half spoiled the movie with utter crap comedies and unwanted sequences. Audience will expect a minimum standard script from Sachi, but this time he failed in delivering such a script. As a director Shajoon Kariyal also disappointed the audience.

Biju Menon and Lal did their part extremely well. Without them the movie would have been too horrible. Hats off to Lal and Bijumenon.

Nothing more to say. Chettayees is just a below average movie which will surely disappoint the audience. Save you precious time and money.

Idiots

Direction   :  KS Bava
Writer       :  Sangeeth Sivan
Starring     :  Asif Ali, Sanusha, Baburaj

Idiots is directed by by debutant K S Baba, the former associate to eminent film maker Sangeeth Sivan. After a break of 10 years, Sangeeth Sivan is making a return to Malayalam cinema, this time as a scriptwriter and producer. He is famous among Malayalees for the superhit film Yoddha.

Asif Ali is playing the role of a stranger who breaks into Sanusha’s house. Baburaj acts as a restaurant owner. As the story evolves, they involve in a tiff over the heroine. Later the three of them have a long chat and they reconcile.

When Sangeeth Sivan came back after long 10 years, the audience expected some magic from him. But he totally disappointed the audience. There is nothing in the script. After watching this movie you will ask yourself that is this the same guy who wrote script of Yodha??!!! The direction was not up the mark. The debutant director KS Bava has to improve a lot.

Asif Ali, Sanusha, and Baburaj weren't having anything to perform and they were simply doing something which irritated the audience. Idiots is strictly a below average movie with no content at all. You will be disappointed.

Scene onnu nammude veedu is a family entertainer directed by Shaiju Anthikadu starring Lal, Thilakan, and Navya Nair. Through this movie Navya Nair returns after a long gap. Asif Ali is playing a guest role in the movie.

The movie tells the story of a co-director and his wife, whose ultimate aim is to become a independent film director, but he fails. After a long time he got a chance to direct a film. The events following this are shown in the movie.

Scene onnu nammude veedu is a clean movie with no vulgarities. But the story plot is very similar to many other movies and there is nothing new in it. Lal did his character perfectly with all mannerisms needed for his character. Navya Nair and Thilakan also did their roles well.

If you are looking for a simple and clean family movie, scene onnu nammude veedu may satisfy you. Otherwise the movie is a failure.

Ardhanari

Direction   :  Dr. Santhosh Souparnika
Writer       :  Dr. Santhosh Souparnika
Starring     :  Manoj K Jyana, Thilakan, Maniyan Pilla Raju

Ardhanari is produced by famous Malayalam playback singer M.G. Sreekumar. The direction and script is handled by debutant Dr. Santhosh souparnika.

The movie tells the story of a group of transgenders and the problems they face. The story plot is different and unfamiliar to Malayali audience. But Dr. Santhosh Souparnika failed to impress the audience by his script and direction. Even though the movie contained a good message, the director failed to deliver it meaningfully.

The performance of Thilakan and Manoj K Jayan is outstanding. The way they handled their characters is really appreciable. After watching the movie every one will surely say that Thilakan's death was one the big loss that Malayalam film industry ever had.

In short the movie is watchable only once for the performance of Thilakan and Manoj K Jayan.

101 Weddings

Direction   : Shafi
Story        : Shafi
Writer       : Kalavoor Ravikumar
Starring     : Biju Menon, Jayasuriya, Kunchako Boban, Samvritha Sunil, Bhama

When Shafi joins hands with Bijumenon, Kunchako Boban, and Jayasuriya, the expectations will be at peak level. Moreover Shafi's Previous movie Venicile Vyapari was a flop. So what Shafi needs is nothing less than a Super Hit. This time Shafi joins hands with script writer Kalavoor Ravikumar to try his luck.

The story of the movie is set on the background of a mass wedding (collective wedding). Kunchako Boban was supposed to marry Samvritha but he didnt like her so he brings Jayasurya in his name to marry her. Meanwhile Biju Menon also enters the scene. The story develops like this.

There is nothing new in the movie. A typical Shafi movie with some comedies. First half of the movie is good with a lot of comedy scenes. But the second half ruined the movie. It's just like a Tom & Jerry cartoon. Unwanted scenes and LKG standard comedies were what the audience witnessed in the second half.

Bijumenon, Kunchako Boban, and Jayasuriya performed really well. 101 is just an average flick which can be watched once for the performances of Bijuenon, Kunchako Boban, and Jayasuriya. In short the movie disappointed a lot of audience but satisfied a few.

Theevram is a crime thriller written and directed by Roopesh Peethambaran starring Dulquer Salman. Sreenivasan, and Shika Nair. The movie is one of the much hyped movie of Dulquer as he is looking forward for a hatrick hit.

The movie opens with a series of two murders. Am not going to reveal the story plot because this movie is suspense crime thriller. 1st half of the movie is good and it tells the the present story. The second half of the movie revels a flash back story which happened 5 years before.

Dulquer Salman's performance was superb, especially the sentiment scene and he proved that he has the caliber to handle tough roles and he has improved a lot from his previous movies proving that acting is a learning process. Sreenivasan was also superb and did a perfect job. Roopesh Peethamabaran's direction and script was good and proved that he is talented with his first movie itself. But there was a lot of lag in the second half. He could have taken more care for the script in second half.

. Theevram is really thrilling and go for it without any expectations. You won't be disappointed.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan

Direction  :  Yash Chopra
Story       :  Aditya Chopra
Script      :  Aditya Chopra, Devika Bhagath

Jab Tak Hai Jaan is a romantic saga which spans two ages. The first deals with Samar Anand (Shah Rukh Khan) as a musician in his late twenties in London where he falls in love with Khushi (Katrina). The second deals with the Samar now an army officer who meets Akira (Anushka), a 21 year old aspiring documentary filmmaker

Romance has been  late  Yash Chopra's hallmark, and he will be remembered for decades for his romantic flicks. Chopra last  directed a 2004 love saga “Veer Zaara” turned out to be a hit. After eight long years he is reinventing romance “Jab Tak Hai Jaan”. What we expect from a Yash Chopra romance are mesmerizing locations, beautiful poetries, heartwarming moments and  unforgettable melodies. We get to see the same and up, the deadly combination of SRK, Yash Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Gulzar and AR Rahman has done wonders for lovers.

But the film is lagging in many places. Many scenes were too slow which bored the audience. Noting more to say. If you want to see a romantic flick go and watch Jab Tak Hai Jaan. But if you are planning to celebrate this diwali Jab Tak Hai Jann won't be a great choice because it's not a festive mood film. It can be watched once for Yash Ji.

Son Of Sardaar

Direction    :  Ashwni Dhir
Script        :  Robin Bhatt
Starring     :  Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha

SOS is the remake of S.S. Rajmouli's Telugu film Maryada Ramana. Even though the both themes are same, SOS is set in a different background, completely different from Maryada Ramana. The movie is a complete combo of mass, masala, action, and romance.

Ajay Devgn works for his friend [Salman] and his uncle in London. He receives a notification from his hometown in Punjab that states that he is about to inherit a piece of land. Ajay sets out for his hometown in Punjab and bumps into Sonakshi Sinha while boarding the train. Both Ajay and Sonakshi are oblivious of the fact that the families have a long-standing feud. Sonakshi happens to be the niece of Sanjay Dutt, whose brother was killed by Ajay's father many years ago. Soon enough, Sanjay Dutt and his nephews [Mukul Dev, Vindu Dara Singh] realize that Ajay is the son of the killer and even want to slaughter Ajay, but there's a hitch. Ajay has entered their mansion as a guest and as per the tradition, all guests are to be treated as God. The story develops like this.

SOS is a action packed comedy entertainer which has all the essential ingredients for a festival season. Ajay Devgn was simply awesome. Once again he proved that he can handle any type of roles. The movie has a huge supporting cast and they all did their part well. Writer Rohit Bhatt prepared the script without loosing the essence of Marada Ramana, but changed the entire background which is essential for a masala entertainer. Director Ashwni is 100% successful in making a masala flick which is completely apt for a festival season like Diwali.

SOS is a fun packed entertainer which you can enjoy with your friends and family. "Diwali Bekhar Bina Son Of Sardaar".

Thuppaki

Director     :  A.R. Murugadoss
Writer        :  A.R. Murugadoss
Starring      :  Vijay, Kajal Agarwaal

Thuppaki is one of the most hyped and much expected Tamil movie of 2012. When ARM joins hands with Ilayathalapathy Vijay, the expectations will be huge.

The theme of the movie is based on a terrorist attack in Mumbai. Some terrorists plan to bomb 12 places in Mumbai. Vijay and his team cleverly prevents the bomb blasts and kills the terrorists. The story develops like this.

In Thuppaki you can witness Vijay's most stylish look ever. As everyone knows that Vijay is a mass hero, ARM completely utilized Vijay's mass stardom for the movie. Vijay did his part well and you can witness a bold and much sharper Vijay, who is completely different from his old masala flicks. Kajal Agarwaal and rest of the crew did their part well. ARM's direction and screenplay was superb. Another highlight of the movie is Santhosh Sivan's cinematography. It was simply superb and the visualization of Antartica song was awesome.

The first half of the movie is filled with thrill and fun. A perfect mixture of both. ARM succeeded both as a writer and director in maintaining the correct combo of fun and thrill in the first half. The second half is more racy and thrilling. There were some twists which was really interesting.

Only negative factor in the movie is that in some scenes ARM tried to use Vijay's mass heroism which was unnecessary for a movie like this. There are no other negatives in this movie.

This time ARM satisfied both vijay fans as well as normal audience. Vijay proved that he can do a lot which is entirely different from his usual masala style. Thuppaki is a must watch movie and it satisfied all the audience and the movie's standard was as expected.

Dr. Ramesh is different and thinks otherwise. Asif Ali (Prasanth) enters their lives, a youngster who falls in love with Malavika. The movie develops like this.

The movie has a lot of emotional sequences and and strong relationships between father and daughter, husband and wife etc. Anoop Menon's performance is mind blowing and once again he proved that he can handle any type of roles. Malavika did perform very well in the movie and she has a very bright future. All the other stars did their part well and M.Mohanan succeeded in making a clean family movie.

But the story plot and characters are repetition of many other movies of the same genre. The first half is not bad. But the second half is lagging with lot of unwanted scenes and emotions and a predictable climax. The movie is too boring at certain times. M.Mohanan disappointed the audience this time. 916 is nothing when compared to his previous movies Kadha Parayumbol and Manikyakkalu. The movie disappoints the audience.

Jawan Of Vellimala

Director  : Anoop Kannan
Starring  : Mammootty, Sreenivasan, Mamta Mohandas, Asif Ali

Jawan Of Vellimala is one of the much hyped and most awaited malayalam movie of 2012. The movie is directed by debutant Anoop Kannan.  Mammootty is playing the lead role in the movie as Gopi Krishnan. The movie also include Sreenivasan, Mamta Mohandas, and Asif Ali in the lead roles. This movie is produced by Mammooty and is distributed by Mammootty's own production company "Playhouse".

The movie tells the story of Gopi Krishnan (Mammooty), who was a military officer. He took voluntary retirement from military service and reaches Vellimala as a dam operator. No one in the village is willing to accept Gopi Krishnan as a courageous Military officer because he is afraid of ghosts. At night he usually used to see images of ghosts. Varghesse (Sreenivasan) is the executive engineer and Anitha (Mamtha) is the  project officer of Vellimala Dam. Koshi Oommen (Asif Ali) is the son of Oommen Koshi , the dam contractor. In a particular situation Varghesse goes missing and  Gopi Krishnan join hands with Koshi Oommen to find Vargheese. During their search for Vargheese some mysteries relating to the dam are revealed.

The first half of the movie was superb and enjoyable with good locations and comedy situations. "Elengadi" song was good. 1st half moves along with Mammooty's character Gopi Krishnan and his mystical mind. When the movie moves to second half the pace in the first half was missing. James Albert could have taken more care of the screenplay in second half. When the movie approaches climax, the entire content of the movie was lost and the climax was boring. The poor screenplay in the second half ruined the movie.

Mammootty, Sreenivasan, Anoop Kannan's direction, good locations and the cinematography of Sateesh Kurup were the positive factors.

Asif Ali, Poor screenplay in the second half, and climax were the negative factors.

Maattran

Director  : K.V. Anand
Starring  : Surya, Kajal Agarwal

Maattran is a much hyped and much awaited movie of 2012. The movie stars Surya, portraying conjoined twins along with Kajal Agarwal in lead roles. Movie opens with eratta kadhire song showing the growth of conjointed twins thorugh different stages. Their father, Sachin Khedekar, a lacto company owner is the numero uno is his field. He is been chased by competitors for the successful trade secrets but in vain. Meanwhile, akhilan and vimalan meets anjali (kajal) and falls for her. Both are not interested in their father's business and at some point knows about the unethical dirty tricks played by sachin khedekhar to boom his business. An
incident results in surgical seperation of the twins and how they track down the truth behind the success formula of their company forms the rest of story.

Its a Surya show form the word go and the chemistry between the twins is remarkable. The effort he put in to play the conjoined twins in evident. 1st half is enjoyable with their mischievous activities and their association with kajal. Second half focuses on Surya's hunt for the truth and is more picturised in Russia  Cinematography is excellent and Harris didn't dissapoint with bgm and songs. Nani koni song is visually stunning. KV Anand scored in direction but should have taken more care in screenplay and the second half is long and dragging at times. Fight scene in the theme park having both Surya is clinical but a bit lengthy.

Surya, kajal Agarwal, cinematography, Nani Koni song locations, conjoined twin scenes, first half, songs, and editing are the positives of the movie. Long running time, Sachin Khedekar, screenplay, climax and scenes in Russia are the negatives.

Maattran is visually and technically superior with a nice plot. Average screenplay in the second half spoiled the effort.

Rating  : 2.75/5
Verdict : One time watchable but disappoints a bit against it's huge hype surrounding it.
