Direction : V.M. Vinu
Script : Manoj Payyannoor
Starring : Mammootty, Roma Ansari, Ragini Dwivedi
Face 2 Face is a crime thriller directed by V.M.Vinu starring Mammootty. Thus movie is really a face 2 face challenge for Mammootty who is desperately waiting for a come back.
Mammootty is a corruption-free cop who always stands by his ethics. His aim is to wipe out criminality and wherever he is posted, he immediately springs to action. As a result most of the times he is under suspension. His uncompromising war with the antisocial elements makes him the prime target of racketeers both inside and outside the force. Finally he decides to ditch his uniform to continue his fight. In the middle of the tumult Mammootty has to forgo all personal comforts including his family. This is when he comes across the silent murders occurring in the midst of modern urban life. He probes into it and this forms the crux of the story. As the name suggest the movie brings life and death face to face.
In a sense the movie won't disappoint the audience who are eagerly waiting for the comeback of Mammootty. Mammootty's performance was superb and his dialogues were amazing. The script and direction was OK. V.M. Vinu is well known for handling family subjects. This is his first thriller movie and he succeeded in doing his part well up to a certain limit.
The second half lacked speed and was boring when compared to the first half. More care should have been given to the script in the second half. The performance of 4 new faces in the movie was not up to the mark. The songs in the movie were unwanted and irritating.
In short Face 2 Face is an above average fare which can be watched without any expectations and which is better than recent Mammootty movies.
Rating : 2.75/5
Verdict : Above Average (Let's wait and see what it can do in the Box-Office)
